Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Skill Testing & Certification

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a project to test and certify the skilled youth trained through informal sector known as ‘Ustad-Shagird’ system. RPL is based on the principle that learning can occur outside traditional formal education settings and that individuals can acquire valuable knowledge and skills through practical experiences and self-directed learning. It recognizes that individuals may already possess the required competencies and should not be required to undergo unnecessary duplication of learning.

To enhance employment prospects for informally skilled youth, RPL was launched by NAVTTC, through GIZ and PMYSDP, as a tool to verify and certify the skills acquired through informal and unregulated means. NAVTTC has 114 assessment centers across the country where RPL activities are being conducted.
